Grocery Gambits Halloween Tournament

On October 18th, 2025, the Wise Guy’s Chess Club hosted the Grocery Gambits Halloween Chess Tournament at the Rivertown Market — and it was a thrilling mix of strategy, creativity, and community fun!

The event brought together chess enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels for an afternoon of friendly competition and festive spirit. Players battled it out across the boards in full costume, filling the Market with both brains and Halloween cheer.

Taking home 1st place and earning the title of October’s Chess Champion was Mr. Troy, who claimed the champion’s trophy and a $100 Rivertown Market gift card for his stellar performance.

Adding to the fun, the costume contest crowned the Gingerbread Woman as the winner — a sweet victory for a standout outfit that captured the spirit of the season.
